At some point in your life, you might feel like you aren’t accomplishing much and the time is just passing by. This is why it is important to stay on top of your goals, because they are what motivates you to keep pushing and strive to be the best. If you are ever caught in this feeling, it could mean that it is time for you to set new goals that will stimulate your mind and get you excited about life again. We grow everyday, and what your goals were five years ago may not necessarily be what you want today.
First thing first, write think about what you want in life and write them down or place them visually on a board. Now, that you have your goals it is time to think about how you are going to achieve them or your strategy.
Usually, goals can be separated by categories such as career, physical, financial, pleasure, etc., but without the small breakdown of targets that are intended to reach the big goals you don’t have a solid plan. Begin by considering the things that are already happening in your life that are helping you reach your goals. You may actually feel more accomplished than you did before!
Creating a daily To-Do List dedicated to reaching your goals will help you in the process. Doing something as small as checking out a book from the library each week or reading two articles a day can be a small strategy towards accomplishing one of your goals. The tasks you set for your day are invested in the big picture, your life goal.
The cool part of setting goals then forming small strategies for those goals is that it takes the pressure off of you. You don’t feel bad that you haven’t increased your network or married someone you love, because you have accomplished the small goals. Your self-worth will improve and your confidence will be evident by setting smaller tasks for yourself. Remember, your small goals should be realistic and they should not be harder than your big goals.
Go back and review your life goals to make sure that they still fall in line with who you are and what you want. You can change your life goals as you change your priorities and experiences. You are not a failure just because you change a goal.
Once you’re clear on the difference of your goals and strategies, you will feel more satisfied and in tune with your purpose.
